Grievance Procedures

In accordance with established district policy, concerns and complaints from employees, students, parents, and the public should first be addressed informally.

Should a satisfactory resolution not be reached, the formal grievance process provides a structured path for recourse.

TEA Local Grievance Process

Procedure for resolving grievances

  1. Informal Resolution: The grievant must first attempt to resolve the issue informally through direct communication with the employee or staff member involved.

  2. Campus Administration Review: If the informal attempt fails, the grievant may request a meeting with the campus administrator for clarification or mediation.

  3. District Supervisor Review: If a resolution is not achieved at the campus level, the grievant should contact the Superintendent at the District Administration office (432-693-2461) to arrange a conference.

  4. Formal Filing: If a satisfactory resolution is not reached through the previous steps, a formal written grievance may be filed according to the procedures and guidelines outlined in board policy FNG(Local).

RISD has grievance policies in place for employees, students, parents, and the public. It is recommended that the grievance be resolved at the lowest possible administrative level.
