Rankin set the state record for most 3-point attempts with 59 during an 88-67 win over Eldorado on Jan. 3 in Rankin.
The Lady Red Devils also made 19 3-pointers in the win, which was one short of the state record. The previous state record for 3-point attempts was 55 by Smyer in a 2003 game against Kress.
Mount Pleasant Chapel Hill (2018) and Bowie (2007) share the state record for 20 3s made in a game. Rankin head coach Eric Simonds said he submitted paperwork Wednesday to the National Federations of States High School Associations (NFHS) and the UIL to have both marks recognized in the official record books. – From MRT newspaper article – 1/8/2020
