Federal Report Cards
The U.S. Department of Education requires a report card to be disseminated annually to include specific district and campus-level data for Texas public schools.
Texas Academic Performance Report
The Texas Education Code (TEC), §39.306, requires each district’s board of trustees to publish an annual report that includes the TAPR, district accreditation status, campus performance objectives, information on violent or criminal incidents, and information on the performance of the previous year’s graduates in their first year of college, as reported by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
The Accountability Summary report provides state accountability rating issued to the district and campuses. The ratings are as follows: Met Standard, Improvement Required, or Not Rated. To receive a Met Standard, campuses and districts must meet or exceed the target score on all indexes for which they have performance data in 2015. The Texas Education Agency awards an accreditation status to each public school district and charter school. The accreditation status is based on the academic accountability rating and financial ratings from the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas. A district or charter must be accredited by the state to operate as a public school.
